The Summer Programme – Lechlade
August 2, 2018 at 18:30
Lechlade is a small market town on the edge of the Cotswolds on the river Thames. A favourite mooring place for leisure boats and swans, there are pretty riverside walks. St. John’s bridge, which crosses the Thames, dates back to 1229 (but was rebuilt in the 19th century!). Places of interest include St Lawrence’s churchyard, which inspired Shelly to compose A summer evening churchyard.
Pub: The Trout Inn, Lechlade. Meet at the pub at 8-8.30pm.
How to get there
Lechlade is 12 miles north of Swindon on the A361. You can park for £2 at the Riverside park on the A361 on the way into town. There is street parking in Lechlade but watch out for the restrictions.
