Town Gardens, Swindon
The Town Gardens are the subject of next year’s Bernard Hinton Competition. The Town Gardens are Grade II listed for their special historic interest. The gardens were established as a recreation ground for Old Town on the site of old Purbeck stone quarries. The Gardens were opened in 1894 with the northern area being added in 1904, with a rose garden and bandstand being added in the 1950s. Within the park you’ll find a pond, bowling green, glass houses, sculptures, aviary, the concert bowl and much more! See: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1001477
