Summer Programme – Cirencester Street Scenes
June 8, 2017 at 18:30
Cirencester is a lively market town, where you’ll find some attractive street scenes, café culture and street life. Points of interest include the Church of St John the Baptist, which is known for its Gothic porch, the fan vaulting and the merchant’s tombs inside. Behind the church you’ll find the Abbey Grounds, which contain the ruins of St Mary’s Abbey, a lake and some fragments of the Roman wall. There is a Roman amphitheatre on the south west of the town (this is a bit hidden in a housing estate outside the ring road).
Pub: The Fleece, Cirencester. Meet at the pub at 8.00-8.30.
How to get there –
Cirencester is 15 miles north of Swindon up the A419. Parking is free after 3pm. The Forum Car park is close to the Market place and to the Fleece and has plenty of spaces (its good for disabled access).
