Summer Programme – Barbury Castle – Summer picnic
June 22, 2017 at 18:30
Meet at Barbury Castle anytime after 6.30, bring a picnic!
Barbury Castle is an Iron-age hill fort and country park, and is well-known for its views. The park is notable for its chalk grassland, which provides habitat for butterflies, birds and other wild life. The stand of beech trees near the hill fort provides a landmark that is as easily recognisable today as it was during World War II, when anti-aircraft guns sited inside the hill-fort protected the nearby airbase. The field near to the car park is also very good for kite flying.
As the 22nd June is almost the longest day of the year, we plan to stay up at Barbury until after sun down. So bring a picnic!
