Moulden Hill Country Park – Light Painting

Meet at Moulden Hill Country park at dusk. We plan to use lights to create some special images of trees and the jetties on the lake within the park.

Light painting, or light drawing, is a technique in which images are made using light sources while taking longexposure photograph, either by moving hand held lights to illuminate a subject, by moving lights shining directly at the camera to create patterns, or by moving the camera itself during exposure. The technique of capturing a moving light source whilst taking a long exposure photograph can be difficult to perfect but can produce exciting results. The Tawny Owl. We will begin the evening here at 7.00 for some food and a drink, and then walk through the underpass to Moulden Hill park as the sun goes down.

How to get there

Moulden Hill Country park is off Thamesdown Drive (the A4198). There is parking at the park.

Equipment:

A camera with a ‘BULB’ function is preferred – Lens with a manual focus option – An intervalometer or simple remote shutter release – An in camera timer function (5, 10 or 30 seconds) if you don’t have a remote shutter release – A sturdy tripod (tripod with or a hook to hang your camera bag to it to make it sturdy) – A selection of battery operated lights – such as Xmas lights, torches (LED are better).
