Club Member Gill Marsh has kindly agreed to talk to us about underwater photography; a subject she knows a lot about.

Here is how she describes the evening;

The first half is called “Technical Basics”.

I will give a little bit of history, explain how all the equipment works and cover a range of topics that illustrate the fundamental differences between photographing in water and in air.  I will bring a large selection of my gear along for people to examine at the start, during the interval and at the end.

The second half is called “Underwater Photography in Practice”.

I have divided it into three sections.  The first, ‘Beautiful Britain’, will celebrate the colourful invertebrate life around our own shores.  The second, “Wildlife”, covers wildlife encounters around the world and again highlights the differences from wildlife photography on land. The final part, “’Dangerous’ Wildlife”, is about dispelling a few myths and has a perhaps surprising conclusion.

If you are looking for proof of what a great evening this should be, just look at the images on our home page

There you will find your proof.
